I have spent the greater part of my career refining my skills in the areas of Anxiety, Depression, Relationships, Bereavement/Loss, Life Transitions and ADHD.

Anxiety

The therapeutic approaches I incorporate have been extensively researched and proven effective.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers four primary treatment modules to teach techniques and skills to the client by the clinician. Emotion Regulation, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance are four core competencies that help the client identify how emotions impact their lives, relationships, communication patterns, and their ability to cope with stress. These various skills are taught to provide the client insight, and hope as they learn to better manage and respond to life’s stressors as well as reduce problematic behaviors. If you are interested in learning new and effective ways to handle uncomfortable emotions, tolerate stress, improve communication and live a full and present life than DBT might be for you.

CBT

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is usually more focused on time-limited problem solving in the present. Techniques are taught, and offer a structured systematic approach of collaboration between the clinician and the client. Tools are learned through a guided, and active discovery with ongoing feedback to help the client identify thoughts and beliefs that may be holding them back and to learn new ways of relating to others. CBT has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, depression, marital problems and related issues.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a collaborative and structured method best known for couple intervention and is also used successfully with individuals. EFT speaks to various kinds of problems and populations. Attachment and development theory is the framework for understanding a client’s emotional life and patterns that impact significant relationships. These skills effectively teach new, healthier cycles of interaction sequences that replace old negative patterns and provide an environment of healing.
